Tango Meets Jazz" is a unique project by the Bandonegro ensemble, where tango converges with jazz, minimalist music, and contemporary improvisation. It's a musical journey where the band showcases an original style that blends the pulse of Buenos Aires with European sensibilities.
During their concerts, you can hear both Bandonegro's original compositions and fresh, surprising arrangements of Astor Piazzolla's works. This project is the culmination of many years of exploration and experimentation, resulting in two albums: the critically acclaimed "Hola Astor", a dynamic fusion of tango, jazz, and rock, and their latest release, "TANUEVO" (May 2025), which serves as a musical manifesto for a new approach to tango nuevo.
The album "TANUEVO" was recorded at the legendary Fortmusic Studio in Buenos Aires, featuring prominent artists such as Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla (Astor's grandson) and guitarist Lucio Balduini. The album was produced by world-class, multi-Grammy Award-winning producers. Its premiere took place at the iconic Bebop Club in Buenos Aires.
"A refreshing experiment. A fine blend of European jazz with a touch of Buenos Aires’ aroma. Well done!”
